Pretty much WOO HOO!

Next Monday I am having the bathroom man come to give me a quote and it will all go from there. I do not have a huge budget, but I only want something quite simple, clean and of course with lots of storage. The whole bathroom needs to be ripped out though, SO EXCITING.

I am most definitely going to do some before and afters, but here’s a little look at the kind of thing I like.

I am a bit more fickle when it comes to skin care. I get excited about make up and trying new things, but when it comes to skin care, due to my sensitive skin I rarely find something I really love hence this is a short list.

Alpha-H Age Delay Intensive Eye and Lip Treatment Cream. Oh my, this stuff is delicious. I have never really liked and eye cream, let alone LOVE one, so this is huge. The texture is smooth and creamy and feels very luxe. It smells wheaty and wholesome and best of all it make the skin around my eyes look hydrated and happy.

Dermalogica Ultra Calming Cleanser. This is not a hardcore, makeup removing cleanser, but it is the only cleanser I have found that really calms the skin. It is a translucent gel type consistency that spreads over the skin like a dream and cools the skin. It does not foam, which is key for sensitive skin. It doesn’t have a fragrance either.

Ultraceuticals C-10 Serum. I don’t use this every day, but when I do use it I wonder why I don’t. When applied to the skin, you look fresh, dewy and plumped and like you are one of those people blessed with perfect skin. I love it, but I have to be very careful to avoid the eye area or I get itchy.

Fave Make Up Products of 2010

December 30, 2010

So these weren’t necessarily released this year, but these are the make up products I used and loved in 2010… I will do one for skin care tomorrow.

BECCA Lip and Cheek Creme in Rosebud. This is my go to pink cheek colour. It’s fresh and pretty and adds colour without ever looking over done. It lasts all day too and doesn’t budge on the skin.

Stila Convertible Colour in Gerbera. This is the peach equivalent of Rosebud! Does all the things that the BECCA does but it gives that peachy-keen, youthful look as an added bonus. Love it.

Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Sweet. Such a pretty gloss. It’s super shiny and imparts the slightest, softest shade to the lips. Perfect gloss to go!

MAC Viva Glam Lady Gaga lipstick. This is a fun, yet not too OTT colour. It has a slight mod vibe without making you look as though you are going to a costume party. The texture is smooth and it smells amazing!

Boujois Healthy Mix Foundation. I am obsessed with this one. Applied with a Beauty Blender gives the best result imo. It gives excellent coverage but also leave a fresh dewiness to the skin that it stunning. It can be applied sheer or heavy (which I find important for a foundation) and it just makes the skin sing. It smells like apricots too. It’s just a pleasure to use and the price is nice too!

Beauty Blender. Seeing as I mentioned it and love it, here it is! Gives the best finish to ANY foundation (given that it’s not a powder) hands down.

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. I love this one. A Shimmer free, non orange bronzer that smells like chocolate? Ok, in my books. It’s blends like a dream and give that perfect sun kisses look without too much effort!

Bobbi Brown Everything Mascara. This is a great mascara that will never fail your lashes. It’s gives volume and length, but you lashes never look stiff and weird, they look fluttery and pretty. It is a great inky black too.

Merry Christmas!

December 21, 2010

I haven’t updated in a while, sorry! My excuse is well, it’s that time of the year where no one has time for anything other than being social! I have been travelling, going to christmas parties and drinks, seeing friends to give them gifts etc etc etc.

I am super excited about the upcoming holidays (even though I only have 4 days off work) and getting to see my family and celebrate! I am heading to my Aunty’s house for what always feels like a ‘real’ Christmas. She has lived there since I was a kid, so it just has Christmassy memories.

Of course I have planned out my Christmas look for the day. I bought a dress to wear to my birthday this year and have not worn it since, so I thought I would bring it out for Christmas. It’s a coral slip and has a black chiffon overlay that has silver zipper details on it. I love it and it’s very flattering, considering there will be a lot of eating going on I don’t want to wear anything that feels restrictive! I have not figured out accessories yet, but I will work on it.

As for make up, I am going to go for a bit of a fun look and put some green glitter liner on my eyes, because if you can’t do it at Christmas, when can you?

Leave your Christmas day looks in comments!

Sunset Dinner

November 24, 2010

Who else is super excited that the weather is being so beautiful in Sydney at the moment? All I want to do it get away from work and enjoy the long, warm evenings and have sunset dinners.

Having said that, I live in the worlds tiniest apartment with a main road staring at my balcony, so it’s not really something I can enjoy at home. However, I do love to go out for a sun soaked dinner wherever possible and being that I have had a load of restaurants open near my place of late it has become far more achievable.

I know it’s just going across the road, but I really like to put some effort in to my look when I do this as well. I like so put on a pretty dress, sparkly flats and pretty fresh makeup and hair pulled back (so it doesn’t fall in my food!). I just think it makes it feel more ‘special’ that just popping over for a bite to eat.

Is anyone a bit strange like me and loves this too?

Ok, so I know there is all this “controversy” over this dress being a “copy” of Alexander McQueens but you know what, I am not going to talk about that (I mean, any more…)

I went to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows over the weekend (and LOVED it btw) and I was simply mesmerised by Fleur Delacour’s (I adore that name just as an aside) stunning wedding dress. I know it’s probably not something that most people would go for being so whimsical and different, but for a Harry Potter movie it was just perfect. It was kind of a shame that they didn’t showcase it a bit more. I was squirming in my seat trying to see it from the best angle!

Also, I just adore Clemence Posey and she looked just beautiful! I loved that hair and make up and the whole look.

Here are some pics!

Wedding at the Manor

November 19, 2010

With all the “Royal Wedding” talk going on lately, my mind has be floating off to English thoughts. I know the Royals will most likey be doing this but… Oh, how I love the idea of a garden wedding in the English summer and having a grand reception at a beautiful historic manor. It’s not something that would probably ever eventuate for me in this life time, but it’s fun to dream.

Of course there would be beautiful roses in vintage pastel colours, opulent yet tasteful jewels, elegant, soft dress. How lovely! And don’t forget all the stunning photos you would get in the perfectly groomed garden!

Mix and Match Maids

November 11, 2010

Hey,  guess what!? Your bridesmaids are not carbon copies of eachother! Weird, right? Who knew?

Don’t get me wrong, I do think matching bridesmaids can look fantastic on some occasions but I think it’s fab that now days mixing and matching your ‘maids looks is becoming more common!

My favorite idea is having the same colour for all the girls but in different shapes that suits each of their figures. For starters, they will be more comfortable and I just think it gives a more relaxed, happy vibe. You can always go the same dress in different colours too, but be careful here because sometimes it can look very messy and unplanned. Try to keep in the same tonal range if possible and this works fine.

I also like having different beauty looks for each girl. They will probably have different hair lengths so why try to get their hair to look the same? They will probably have ideas on how their hair works best! Talk to them and get ideas, work with them and make sure everyone is happy.  Also, one of them might always wear a red lip or flicked liner as their signature, why not let them do it at your wedding?

The Blushing Bride

November 10, 2010

Being a makeup artist and a person obsessed with weddings, of course I love all things wedding makeup. On top of all that I have a mild blush obsession, so I though I would discuss my opinions on the matter!

I hear often that brides have been told by their photographers that they should have no shine or shimmer or glow in their faces for their wedding but I respectfully disagree, well, not on the shine thing but I feel that I bride with glowing cheeks is the peak of pretty. In the image above you can see what I mean. She doesn’t look oily, she looks fresh and alive and glamourous! If her cheeks were matte she’d look dull and flat. Who wants that? No one!

To achieve a perfect blushing bride look I recommend the following:

After applying your foundation apply a pretty, soft creme blush (for a pink I really love BECCA Lip and Cheek Creme in Rosebud and for a peach Stila Convertible Colour in Geranium) to the apple of your cheeks, then set it with a powder that have a slight glow to it (NARS Orgasm, Benefit Dandelion for example). Then as  a final step apply  powder or liquid illuminator (NARS Albatross or BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector) on top of that, but heading more towards the cheekbones et voila! Pretty blushing, glowy cheeks.
